Client:

Minneapolis Public Housing Authority

Through a multi-year effort, a highly visible commercial corner was transformed from a pornographic hub to vital, active, neighborhood integrated facility.

This two-story 20,000 square foot building combines:

  • The needs of the State.

  • Integrating the wish of the neighborhood for a project aesthetically integrated into their community.

  • Planning that recognizes the vital role of pedestrians and public transportation at Chicago and Lake

  • Design based on the importance of maintaining the historical urban commercial context character and scale of Lake Street.

This project was an involved community effort, which included the participation of the following team members: Chicago-Lake Project Review Committee; Sharon Sayles-Belton, (then) Ward 8 Councilperson; Peter McLaughlin, Legislator, County Commissioner; Minneapolis Community Development Agency; Minnesota Department of Jobs and Training.
